This unusual Aksumite window is found in the 13th century Church of Bet Gabriel-Rufael in Lalibela, Ethiopia. This rock-hewn church was carved entirely out of a single block of granite.





St. Mary’s

These unusual windows can be found in St. Mary’s Church, Painswick, a small town in Gloucestershire, England. It was built between 1042 and 1066 by a rich Anglo Saxon named Ernesi.

This unusual window is found in the Roman Catholic’s St. Peter and St. Paul’s Church in Vilnius, Lithuania built in 1676.





Cheticamp Church

This unusual stain glass window is found on St. Peter’s Church in Cheticamp, Nova Scotia, Canada on the northwest shore of Cape Breton Island. The church was built in 1893 with stones which were lugged across the ice from the Ile-de-Cheticamp just offshore.  Now if only I could get some windows in Richmond like that.
